More E-Mail Scams

Another interesting scam attempt sent by e-mail. The sender tries to make it sound legitimate by passing himself off as an attorney. But attorneys don't use yahoo.com as a business address - but this can be overlooked for another reason. He is blatant about his plans to scam and cheat the system - thus, he defines himself as being dishonest. Yet he expects the recipient of the e-mail to trust him and accept his scam e-mail at face value. So he would not use an official e-mail to blatantly state his intent to be dishonest for his own personal gain. But how could he expect anyone to trust him after his open confession of dishonesty and wanting the e-mail recipent to be a party to that dishonesty.

Also, if he knows his client had the same last name as mine, why not address the e-mail to me personally.

It is true that I was born at night but it was not last night.

I think this is a poor scam attempt. It is not very believable.

Damn - looks like I forfeited my big winnings. I love it when I win a big lottery that I never entered - or, in fact, didn't even know about. To be the recipient of these winnings is not really an honour; rather it is a statement that my name is being sold on some e-mail list and the scammers have scooped that list and are mass e-mailing. Oh well, back to my real work - at least I know the cheques are real,
